Closed on the House!

Today Joshua and I closed on our new house. The closing went quicker than we all expected – took around 40 minutes. We own a house now!
It doesn’t quite feel real. We’re in Atlanta, and the house is in Knoxville, so we couldn’t run right over and see it once we owned it. Alchemy is coming up in a couple of weeks, so we’re not planning to move until after Alchemy. That means I won’t actually see the house again until mid-October.
We’ve picked out the washer, dryer, refrigerator, and deep freezer that we want to buy, but those purchases will wait until it’s time for us to be in the house. Joshua has started packing, although I’m already behind the curve since I’m currently laid up with bronchitis.
We’ll be in our house soon enough, and we’ll have years and years to enjoy it, but the waiting is hard. In the meantime, I calm my restless mind with daydreams of swinging on my front porch swing, dipping my feet in my creek, wandering the edges of the property, figuring out all the details of the future bees, pigs, and chickens, and reveling in the fact that, even though I can’t touch it yet, I now own my own little dream house.
Good luck with the house and livestock — and enjoy your time of daydreams because before you know it you’ll be knee deep in pig muck. Thanks for the hat tip to our blog; we’ll keep an eye on how things go for you guys.
@Terrabyte Farm – I think that being knee deep in pig muck is really going to suit me, but it’s true – I should probably enjoy this “calm before the storm” while it lasts! :-) Thanks for stopping by!
