It’s a Comment Party!

Hey you! Yeah, you there reading this post!  Hi!  ::waves::

Sometimes I peek in on my traffic stats for this blog and I see you over there! Oh, it’s just a number, but I see how many of you are visiting each day and how many of you subscribe in a reader, so I know you’re out there!

A lot of you don’t comment here, and I completely get why. I read a gazillion different blogs, and I do leave comments here and there, but I don’t cover much ground. And I post on a lot of different topics here, so there are probably a lot of posts that you skim right on by. And some of you pop in from Google to a specific post and probably never even see the front page.

But!

A lot of you are reading this right now, and here’s what I’d really, really, really love. Leave a comment, even if it’s just this one time on this one post. Even if you’ve never commented before. Even if you comment all the time. Even if you’re reading this in the archives months from now.

Leave a teeny-tiny comment like “Yo!” or a smiley face. Or leave a great big comment telling me why you read here. Or say “Hi!” to someone else who’s commented. Or tell me about your blog, if you have one. Or tell me about a post you liked or a post you hated. Or tell me what you had for breakfast this morning. Click through in your reader, if that’s where you’re coming from, and then jump on in to comment!

Yes, this is totally self-indulgent, but I would really like to see who all pops in and what you’ve got to say if my little bit of prodding has worked.

It’s a comment party! Come join the fun!

  1. WOOO, FIRST COMMENT!

I’m still salivating over the pizza you and Joshua made the other night. In my opinion as a Pizza Consumption Expert (TM), it gets 4 thumbs up.

I’m super excited about the dome build party! There’s nothing like outdoor building, beer, and good people to make an awesome Saturday.

I don’t really have a blog, but I DO keep a live journal that I update once every week or so. anothersivil.livejournal.com

I love reading all of your posts, especially the ones on burner culture and super especially the ones about the 10 principles. You should write posts about all of them! You and I seem to think a lot alike when it comes to this sort of thing and I’ve enjoyed picking up some new insights for myself.

  2. Yay, its a party!

  3. @Trevor Thanks for the pizza compliments! Ooh, I’d really like to finish up the 10 principles series. They take a little work to get my thoughts down, but I do have thoughts on them all! Thanks for the reminder; maybe I’ll revisit that soon. I’ll check out your LJ, too.

@Tunna See! I didn’t even know you were reading here! Thanks for leaving a comment. I can’t wait to see you at the dome party! I know I’ll see you this weekend, too, but I’m more excited about the dome party. I’m counting on you to know how to conduct a proper Safety Meeting. I mentioned it at the last work weekend, and people actually thought I meant discussing safety. :-)

  4. I usually comment on your blog posts over breakfast.

@Trevor: Glad you liked the pizza. IMO, it wasn’t bad, but you should keep coming over when we make pizza. Occasionally, I feel like we really knock it out of the park, and then it’s really memorable pizza.

  5. Oh look what you’re making me do! But this is the first party I’ve been to in way too long so I might as well join in. Whoa I was not aware of this pizza making blog so I will have to check it out. Also, I was passing through Knoxville this past week on my long road trip from Virginia to Texas, and I thought about emailing you to hang out. But I felt a little weird doing that since we are basically strangers. So it will have to wait until Alchemy, I think I’ll feel much less creepy meeting you in a quasi planned environment instead of inviting myself into your life.

Anywho I am going to visit my Gramma today! And it will be sweet and we will probably have Mexican food!

This has been a great party!

  6. @Dalice Awww, I’m sorry you didn’t contact me; that would have been cool! I get why you didn’t, though – I would probably feel weird about that, too. But, I try to tell people that you can always ask me things, ’cause I can always say no. I have pretty good no’s! Anyway, enjoy the Mexican food (one of my favorites!) and thanks for stopping by to comment.

  7. Hey! Just lil’ ol’ me. I have you in my reader so I don’t miss any entries, but it says I’m the only subscriber. :)

  8. I’ve been in a “read only” mood lately. That usually means that I have conflicting thoughts.

  9. Howdy cool people!

  10. @Jo You and Joshua, my two longest fans! :-) Feedburner says I fluctuate between 15 and 30 subscribers. Most of my stats are people who visit the site directly. I clicked through your name and I see that you have an open LJ. I don’t know how I missed that before, but I’ll be subscribing!

@OldNovice I’m often in read-only mode myself, and I definitely understand having conflicting thoughts on stuff! Thanks for stopping by.

    @Rodney Howdy yourself! :-)

  11. I read :)

Breakfast this morning was hot chocolate, and I am about to cook stir fry teriyaki chicken :)

  12. @StacyCat Hey there! Mmmmm… teriyaki chicken sounds fantastic! I cannot imagine having hot chocolate right now, though! Too hot in the air to add extra hot to my body.

  13. hullo dere! I read regularly, i only comment if i feel i have something important to say, which is rare.

  14. Hi!

  15. @Ashley Thanks for commenting on this post. I’m with you – I rarely comment on someone’s post unless I really feel like I have something to add. I appreciate the drive-by here, though! :-)

  16. @Sarah Hi! :-)

  17. okay, okay…now that i’ve read this it’d be really rude to close my browser with leaving a comment :)

i really enjoy reading blogs, but for whatever reason rarely comment

i found your blog through jack-booted liberal; i found his through a comment he left somewhere – can’t remember where he left it or what he said, just that i liked the comment and was intrigued by the name

that was just a few weeks ago; i’ve been stopping by both your blog and his pretty regularly since

i really enjoy your writing, issa – thank you for that (and for dragging us lurkers out of the woodwork)

  18. @Teri Thanks for commenting! It’s nice to know who’s reading. I hope you keep stopping by, and I’ll check out your blog, too!

  19. Howdy!

Not sure when you posted this. I’m not sure if I have subscribed to your blog or not. I don’t see you come up in my google reader feed but I am still trying to figure all that out. I do have you bookmarked and try to read you when I remember to.

    Blessings,
    Vyviane

  20. @Vyviane Thanks for stopping by! Email me if you want help with Google Reader. I love it and only visit people’s actual sites if I’m going to comment.

  21. I just came to your blog after you commented on mine, and I love it! I will definitely be back here – you seem like a girl after my heart. Love your tattoo, too :).

    Olivia

  22. @Olivia Thanks for stopping by. I’ve really enjoyed reading back through your blog. Do you know any other freebirth bloggers?

  23. There are a few, but most birth blogs I follow are more about homebirths with midwives. If you like, we can exchange guest blogs? I’d love to gain someone else’s perspective on freebirth, and I could write just about anything you like for you :). I love the wide scope of your blog. It looks pretty cool.

What’s your opinion on getting a tattoo while breastfeeding? Right, this is a totally random question, it’s just something I have been looking into.

    Olivia

  24. About freebirth – there is a great UC board on mothering dot com, if you don’t know about it already. Unfortunately, it’s been a bit slow recently.

  25. You always have something interesting to talk about that may or may not provide insight into what’s going on in my own life :)

  26. Howdy! I’ve been continuing to read through your posts. I wish we lived closer to one another! Frank and I both really like both you and Joshua, and loved camping with you at Alchemy. I’ll continue posting intermittently as I read. We share a lot of common interests and similar perspectives on the world, so it is fascinating to read your thoughts. I hope you have a really wonderful Thanksgiving – wish we could stop by for a visit!

  27. @Leah Ditto about liking you guys. The only bad part about meeting you and Frank is that you live so far away! I can’t wait to see you again, whenever that happens to be. :-)

  28. apatheticmediocrity

I refuse to feed your self-indulgence by commenting.

    Damn.

  29. In the months-later category, I just found you through your guest post on Write About Birth. Besides birthing (which is a passionate interest of mine), I was mostly taken with the fact that you are an atheist. I find that so rarely on blogs. It is refreshing to find one in the Ethernet.

Then I saw this topic and had to check it out. lol

I look forward to getting to know you and reading your birth story, which I’m sure will be beautiful! Please feel free to check out my blog, as well. :-)

    • Thanks for stopping by! I don’t run into a lot of atheists online, either, especially in the earthy-babies-eco-prepper categories I tend to read. Lots of Christians in the prepper realms and lots of Pagans in the earthy category, and the crunchy parenting realm straddles those two lines. I don’t write much about atheism, but it’s important to me.

I’ll check out your blog, too! :-)

  30. I’m a months from now reader :-)

Breakfast was coco waffles and apple juice if your still interested.

I found you for googling how much meat from a pig, and I am so glad I did.
