Let’s Get Fat!
| October 24, 2012 | Posted by Issa under Radical Self-Acceptance |
You may have noticed that my post 21 Things to Stop Saying Unless You Hate Fat People blew up in an amazingly awesome and yet frustrating way. Check it out if you haven’t. Comment if you dare. Spread the link around if you want to get in on the link love.
But that post is awfully serious, and I can’t stand that for too long.
Are you familiar with Texts from Dog? Dog has some advice for what to say to the scaremongering fat haters:
Fuck yeah! Fat sounds awesome!

I first found this blog from a Tumblr link to “21 Things”, and for the first time in months I’m actually very glad I read through the comments section! There seemed to be some genuine efforts to reach understanding that you don’t often find elsewhere, especially when people’s bodies are the central topic. And a few of the commenters had great ideas for explaining fat acceptance, which I’d like very much to try out with a colleague of mine who keeps harping on and on about dieting… anyway, just wanted to say hi and good going on the serious business stuff, love the fun stuff as well :)
Awesome! Dogs are so smart sometimes. ;)

I love it! This blog is brilliant, and that post is how I found it. So I’m very very glad that you wrote it, even though the people from the internet can be scary.
Let’s get fat together!
My friend has a soapbox about the fat/thin issue, more the fat than the thin because she has battled with severe health problems and medications and weight all her life. Let me rephrase that, she has battled with severe health issues, medications that cause weight gain/loss appetite gain/loss and a host of other horrible side effects all because most of her doctors were too flippin dense to just leave the fat issue ALONE! I read the other post, I then made it halfway through the first comment/responses, funnily enough I have heard of that feminist breeder chick before, didn’t like her then either. I adore your post and support my friend whole heartedly, I don’t deal with much of the critiquing because I am naturally tall and curvy so people don’t see me as fat…until they find out what I weigh then it gets funny. So since I don’t come in for my fair share of assholes in life I enjoy cheering on those who do. I believe hate speech of any kind is wrong, from a family with health/cognitive issues I never say hurtful things about people being broken, stupid, slow or anything else and thanks to your article I have a whole new host of things to use against those who say things mean about my boticelli beauty friend. THANK YOU SO MUCH! lol, being unhateful starts one second at a time, that second you take to think before you open your mouth. Rock On!
